wow been 4 months since my last journal entry. it's been an interesting summer with it's share of changes. gotta roomate, almost had a boyfriend(dated for a month),made some new friends, survived killer heat and huge power bills, continued work on my art book (man will it ever be ready), did some great drawings and continued to work my butt of at my day job,and made it to the coveted 40,000 pageviews. i thank each and every deviant who took the time to come by my page and give my art a little lovin. it really means alot to a amature like me and keeps me drawing.also thanks to all the great artists who have joined my groups :iconcomicsuperhero

Woah 6 months and i havn't written a new journal entry man am i lazy. well i usally don't write a new journal unless i have something interesting to talk about. Well i'm very excited i have decided to attend the Dragon-Con here in Atlanta. The Con starts Sep 2 and runs through Sep 5th i'll be attending only on Saterday and will be just walking the con seeing the parade and of course visiting artists alley. This is he 25th annaversary of the con and also it has been 19 years since i went there. when i went there in 1992 i was a nieve teenager fresh out of high school with dreams of becoming a comic book artist. i look back at the art i took to that con and see how kind the artists were that talked to me thee the stuff was really rough.

Well i can only say that my dragon con experience was absoulutly amazing. i want to try and capture it here without writing a book.
i arrived there at about 7 a.m. And of course waited in line for an hour which wasn't bad because people were walking by in cool costumes and you could just feel the energy in the crowd waiting to get in. of course when you approch the check in station you are greeted by the imperal march from Star Wars "da da da ta da da da ta daaaaa!!!!"

So i get my badge and head stright over to the costume parade. i pick what i think is a good spot on the wall with my friends but when the parade starts i can't get any goo

well if you have been someone who has watched my gallery you may have noticed i have been drawing alot
less laltly. there's a number of reasons for that but the skill is still with me.
one thing i devoted much of my free time to was creating this keep sake chest for my father for christmas.
i took some scrap lumber from where i work i black laqured it and put a clear laquer over that. i bought brass corners and a brass lion head handle to put on the top from china.
i spray painted all the molding and nailed and glued it all around the edges. and painted the wooden feet gold as well.
swartzki crystals were added to the brass accents on the front of the box and on the handle.
he really liked it when i gave it to him and that what counts the most. hopefully i will be posting some drawn art soon but for now here's my first journey into 3d wooden art.
